Kdenz is a writing space for the words that become a song. It brings a lyric editor, rhyming dictionary, thesaurus, and rhythm guides together in your browser.
Tools for listening more closely
Sometimes a line needs one fewer syllable. Sometimes it needs a different ending, or a moment of emphasis in a new place. Kdenz makes those details easier to explore while you keep working on the song.
Use repeating syllable patterns to shape a section, inspect a word’s pronunciation, and compare estimated accents with your own guide. The app supplies observations and word choices; you write the lyrics.
A workspace on your device
There is no account to create. Your current song autosaves in this browser, and analysis and word searches run on your device. Kdenz does not upload your lyrics or dictionary queries. Browser spellchecking uses your browser’s settings and may use its own service.
Once the studio shows Ready offline, its editor and dictionaries can work without a connection. Download project files to keep a backup or move between browsers and devices. Learn how saving works.
A guide, with room for your ear
The analysis assumes North American English. It uses dictionary pronunciations where available and marks estimates and uncertainty. Automatic scansion cannot know your melody or every way a singer might deliver a phrase. Your own reading remains part of the process.
Built on shared language resources
Kdenz uses CMUdict for pronunciation, Open English WordNet for synonyms and definitions, RiTa for language analysis, and ProseMirror for editing. Its rhyme results also use wordfreq familiarity data. Credits and licenses are included in the third-party notices.
